About the Show

Tonight is The Middling Cove Players opening night of their next production Midnight Murder at Hamlington Hall, however 7 of the cast have called in sick, but as they say “The Show Must Go On". With only the Director and two cast members left standing they decide that the show really MUST go on and with the help of the reluctant stage manager, her teenage niece and an unwilling audience member, opening night forges ahead. There is a lot at stake as this is the night the council are coming to review whether to let the Players keep using the hall or to let it out to a local fitness group instead. With a little script adjustment, they push through the scenes with all the pitfalls of community theatre, ill-fitting costumes, missing lines, missing sound effects, bad acting, bad wigs, the list goes on as the performance takes shape in this hilarious comedy that reflects the commitment, the determination, the friendship, and the chaos that live theatre can be.
